OUR BACKBONE NETWORK CARRIES A FULL RANGE OF DATA-BASED SERVICES, INCLUDING VIDEO, DATA AND VOICE SERVICES, PRIVATE LINE AND WAVELENGTH TRAFFIC AS WELL AS IP-BASED SERVICES AND INTERNET ACCESS.

Starting from 2007, Telesmart is connected with the biggest telecommunication nodes in Wien (Interxion) and Frankfurt (Itenos). Expanding, step-by-step, today it is transiting IP and leasing digital lines to its PoP's in Ljubjlana, Zagreb, Belgrade Sarajevo, Pristine, Skopje, Budapest, Sofia and Temisoara. Its backbone is constantly growing with ultimate goal of having (1+1) backed up connections to every of the above stated nodes, thus enabling highest possible reliability and quality of service.

Telesmart's backbone network carries a full range of data-based services, including video, data and voice services, private line and wavelength traffic, as well as IP-based services and Internet access, with capacities of the installed distribution systems up to 400 Gbit/s. Local access capabilities of Telesmart's backbone extend across the country through its own network or partnership with other providers. As such it is able to provide global to national end-to end based solutions to its customers.

TELESMART is present in numerous European countries and has links to the biggest telecommunication nodes: Wien (Interxion) and Frankfurt (Itenos) as well as nodes in Belgrade, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Skopje, Timisoara, Budapest and Sofia.

Expanding, step-by-step, today it is transiting IP and leasing digital lines to its PoPs in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Belgrade Sarajevo, Pristine, Skopje, Budapest, Sofia and Timisoara. Its backbone is constantly growing with ultimate goal of having (1+1) backed up connections to every of the above stated nodes, thus enabling highest possible reliability and quality of service.

The backbone is based on modern, proven SDH transmission technology. Where fiber access to customers is not economically advantageous, leased Ethernet lines from local operators are used for local access.

TELESMART network offers unparalleled capacity, reach and flexibility including products and services incorporating bandwidth, virtual private networks, high speed internet access and transit, managed hosting, communications services and media streaming with the use of TDM, SDH and DWDM telecommunication delivery systems exclusively routed through first class European operators.

With the installation of its own equipment in Wien, TELESMART has become the first European wholesale operator present in one of the biggest European telecommunication nodes, enabling the retail operators in Southeastern Europe and the region with opportunity to directly buy and sell big capacities from and to the big world operators.

TELESMART Telekom has built one of the most modern telecommunications infrastructures in Central and Eastern Europe: a countrywide fiber-optical cable network and an advanced Network Operations Center.

The high quality data/IP-services are based on sophisticated network management and customer care systems and ISO 9001:2008 international quality assurance certified Customer Delivery and Service

TELESMART backbone network spans over 8.000 km, covering Southeastern and Central Europe. It offers unparalleled capacity, reach and flexibility including products and services incorporating dedicated bandwidth, virtual private networks, high speed internet transit and internet access, managed hosting, communications services and media streaming with the use of TDM, SDH and DWDM telecommunication delivery systems  with capacities of the installed systems that reaches up to 400 Gbit/s. The SDH (Nokia Siemens Network and ECI) and the DWDM (ECI) network operate in a ring structure. The presence of Telesmart Telekom is in all capital cities of the covered region.

Local access capabilities of TELESMART backbone extend across the country through its own network or partnership with other providers. As such it is able to provide global to national end-to end based solutions to its customers.

The countrywide fiber-optic backbone of TELESMART Telekom consists of leased fiber connections of the Macedonian Railways. The cables connect all the major locations in Macedonia, as:

  • Corridor 10 (Border pass Tabanovce – Kumanovo – Skopje – Veles – Negotino - Gevgelija)
  • Corridor 8 (Border pass Deve Bair – Kriva Palanka – Skopje – Tetovo – Gostivar – Kichevo – Albania)
  • Connections to border pass Blace towards Kosovo.

At present 440 km of cable are in use. The network continues to expand further. In case of increased customer demand, there is the possibility of expanding the optical network by several hundred kilometers.

The others cities in Macedonia are connected to TELESMART using the IP MPLS services of Macedonian Telekom. The provided capacity is easy to upgrade by each costumer request.

TELESMART Telekom at this moment is operating and managing over 120 km fiber optic network in the capital city of Macedonia, Skopje, according to the IRU 15 model for use of telecommunication infrastructure. The capacity of the fiber optical network is with more than 200 pairs of fibers, reaching all telecom operators, mobile operators, cable operators, VoIP operators and business premises as well. With more than 40 PoP in the capital city Skopje, TELESMART Telekom network can reach to any desired location of our customers.

TELESMART Telekom’s IP core network is based on Cisco Catalyst 6509 Switch. The Cisco Catalyst 6500/Cisco 7600 Series Supervisor Engine 720 is a family of Supervisor Engine(s) designed to deliver scalable performance and rich set of IP features in hardware. Its hardware-based feature set enables applications such as traditional IP forwarding, Layer 2 and Layer 3 Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPNs, Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS) with quality of service (QoS) and security features. The Supervisor engine 720 integrates a high-performance 720 Gbps crossbar switch fabric with a forwarding engine in a single module, delivering 40 Gbps of switching capacity per slot (enabling 4-port 10GE and 48-port 10/100/1000 density line cards). With hardware-enabled forwarding for IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS, the system performance is capable of 400 Mbps for IPv4, 200 Mbps for IPv6 traffic, with features and 1024 VRFs each populated with up to 700 routes/VRF for MPLS. The Cisco Supervisor Engine 720 offers a strong set of security features. System security is hardened with support for features such as Port Security, CPU rate limiting, Multi-Path uRPF and a long list 802.1x extension. Extensive feature support such as QoS mechanisms, hardware-based generic-routing-encapsulation (GRE) tunnelling, and access control lists (ACLs) enable building of high-performance, feature-rich campus networks, metropolitan (metro) aggregation, and various WAN edge networks.

The edge network is where aggregation of multiple users and devices occurs. High speed is required at the edge where more sophisticated applications continue to be utilized by enterprise users. Enhanced security is also critical at the edge of network to prevent any anomalies or rogue users from entering the network.

TELESMART Telekom’s edge network is based on Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series switches and Cisco 2800 Series. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series switches are a line of premier multilayer switches that bring greater intelligence to the metro Ethernet edge, enabling the delivery of more differentiated metro Ethernet services. Featuring hierarchical quality of service (QoS) and traffic shaping, intelligent 802.1Q tunneling, VLAN mapping, Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS) support, and redundant AC or DC power, these switches are ideal for TELESMART Telekom as a service provider seeking to deliver profitable business services, such as Layer 2, Layer 3, and MPLS VPNs, in a variety of bandwidths and with different service-level agreements (SLAs). With flexible software options, the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Metro Series offers a cost-effective path for meeting current and future service requirements from customers as are enterprises and commercial businesses.

The Cisco 2800 Series supports specific edge functions plus a mechanism to extend customers' MPLS VPN networks out to the customer edge with virtual routing and forwarding (VRF) firewall and VRF IPSec.
